A Journey of Growth and Love at Red Beach Early Learning Centre
Read MoreIn 2009, as a 19-year-old mother with a 2-year-old son named Joshua, I was searching for stability and a nurturing environment. We found exactly that at Red Beach Early Learning Centre (RBELC), a place where we both blossomed. From the moment we stepped through RBELC's doors, we were embraced by the warm and devoted owner, Cathy, and her dedicated team members, Danny and Lisa. Their genuine care was evident from the beginning. Over the next three years, Joshua transformed into a confident and curious learner, his natural inquisitiveness fostered daily by the RBELC team. I knew we had discovered a true gem in early childhood education. Though I received snapshots of Joshua's day through photos and stories, I never fully realised the depth of care and dedication occurring behind the scenes. When my second child was ready for early learning, I had no doubt that RBELC was the best choice. He, too, thrived under the exceptional guidance of Cathy, Danny, Lisa, and Debbie. The RBELC team supported us through challenging times, becoming more than just educators—they became an extension of our family. Our journey with RBELC concluded as my youngest son transitioned to primary school. While it was bittersweet to leave, we carried the love and nurturing we received into our next chapter. Four years later, I completed my Bachelor of Education and am now pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching. When I needed to complete 25 hours of voluntary placement in a community setting, RBELC was the first place that came to mind. I approached Danny and Lisa, who warmly welcomed me for my placement. It was surreal to think that the educators who had nurtured and taught my children would now be guiding me. From July 8th to July 11th 2024, I immersed myself in the vibrant life of RBELC. The centre's commitment to safety was immediately apparent as I passed through three secure gates, a poignant reminder of their dedication to protecting every child. Memories flooded back as I walked through those familiar doors, but this time, I was there to observe, participate, and learn. The open-plan layout of the centre fosters an intimate and engaging learning environment, encouraging curiosity and hands-on exploration. The meticulous setup ensures each child receives individual attention and collaborative learning opportunities. During my time there, I saw every child engaged, encouraged, and nurtured. When a child missed their parent, they were gently comforted by Danny, Lisa, Raewyn or Caroline and given the time to process their feelings and self-regulate. Witnessing this tender care brought back emotions, knowing my boys had received the same love, nurture and safety. That is really all we want for our children when they are apart from us. The love the educators have for all the children is evident in their daily interactions and their preschool kawa, modelling behaviours that build trust and relationships. Now well-versed in Te Whāriki and the New Zealand curriculum, I was impressed to see RBELC genuinely embody these principles. The strands of well-being, belonging, contribution, communication, exploration, empowerment, holistic development, family and community, and relationships are not only upheld but are anchored by each educator with decades of experience. A highlight was an excursion to the local park, where children practiced their skills on the monkey bars. The safety measures were meticulous when walking there, with teachers at the front, middle, and end, and children linked in peers with labeled hi-vis vests. The team celebrated each child's success, reinforcing their capability and fostering a sense of group achievement. My journey with Red Beach Early Learning Centre has come full circle. From a young mother seeking stability to an aspiring educator learning from the best, RBELC has been a cornerstone of our lives. The love, encouragement, and foundational learning we received has carried us through challenges and continues to guide us. The RBELC team are more than educators; they are family, and their impact on our lives is immeasurable.

My daughter has loved her time at Red Beach Early Learning Centre from the first day on.
Read MoreAll the teachers are very warm and their tight bond and friendship can be felt when they interact with the children. The preschool has always felt like a second home to my child, rather than an institution where children just get dropped off. The teachers knew all the parents and older siblings names too. Children who go to this preschool are all prepared in the best possible way, socially but also academically. We will always keep very fond and warm memories of RB Early Learning Centre. Lucky are the children who have the privilege of being taught by Debbie, Kathy, Dani and Lisa!”
